On Friday afternoon, I went to a lunch gathering with my friend at one of the restaurants in Kuala Lumpur. Tosca has offered a business set lunch for the price of RM40. It is located at The Intermark, Level 10. We decided to dine there to try out their cuisine.
From the moment we entered, the server has greeted us and led us to our table that we already reserved. A glass of water has been served in the table for each of us. After we placed our orders, the server came with a loaf of homemade bread accompanied with the sweetened balsamic reduction and olive oil. After a while, our food has arrived. Let me emphasize on their appetizer.

For the appetizer, I chose ‘Insalata di Salmone’. It consisted of cured salmon, with the companion of mixed salad and roasted capsicum, and a drizzle of balsamic dressing. First impression of this dish was surprising due to its multicolor from all the elements in the plate. The gloomy orange of the salmon with the vibrant color from salad and yellow color of capsicum.
The mildly salty flavor of lightly cured salmon has burst my appetite. It has activated my taste receptors and made me wanted to eat more. The fruity, tart taste of balsamic vinegar has been softened out by the olive oil. It completed the crunchiness of the mixed salad with the roasted and slightly caramelized capsicum. Balsamic dressing has balanced out the salty taste of the cured salmon. Overall was satisfactory, it was worth trying.

I have decided to eat a Poké bowl for Saturday lunch. It is a raw fish salad that could be served as appetizer or main course that originated from Hawaii. There are a lot of food joint that started to sell Poké bowl. It started to gain its popularity since last year.
One of the eateries that I visited was Fish Bowl. It is located nearby Sunway University, specifically Jalan PJS11/9, Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya. The place is not hard to identify because from a far, we could see the signage with the wording. The way to order is by filling up the form at the counter. Starting from the name the followed by the food that we wanted. Each of the bowl is served with rice and/or salad, with our choice of Poké (salmon, tuna, shrimp, chicken), and topped with 4 sides of our own choice with an unlimited toppings and finish it with sauce(s). The price of each bowl is normally RM19.90 without any additional item.

If you are in hurry, they provide “the perfect poké bowl”. It is bowl that specially designed to cut out the hassle of choosing by our own.
For my meal, I chose brown rice and salad as my base because it should be healthy from the start right? Since I could choose 4 side, I picked cherry tomatoes, edamame, corns and carrots. I wanted to be variety and colorful. Spicy siraccha salmon as my protein as salmon is one of my favorites and finished it with various toppings.

The warm brown rice and cold salmon made a perfect combination in my mouth. Complimented with the salad and the sides, crunchy, soft and crispy all could be tasted. The flavors of each elements mixed together and like a party in my mouth, made me wanted to spoon it more and more. It was indeed a healthy meal.
For those who are health-conscious people and like to watch what they consume could come here and give it a try!
Reminder: After you finish your bowl, you might wanted to eat another bowl because it is so good and you can’t get enough.

When I went to Melaka, one of my friends suggested to try out one of the café at there. Calanthe Art Café is the name of the place. Located at Jalan Hang Katsuri, It is quite a unique place due to its concept and settings. The interior design is mimicking the heritage building with few of decorations when you enter. It’s like you travel back to the olden day. This cafe is well-known for their Malaysia’s 13 states coffee. They served 13 types of coffee that come from all the states in Malaysia with some of authentic local cuisines. The servers are friendly and responsive when we asked questions regarding the menu.
If you don’t have any idea about the coffee, they will provide you with some information to ease our decision. Few of us asked about their specialties before we placed our order. I’ve ordered creamy butter chicken rice, blue curacao soda for my meal for that day. The dessert that I chose was Gula Melaka on toast since we were in Melaka and that was out of ordinary.

After my meal, I requested to bring out my dessert. I have waited for that since I ordered. Few minutes later, the staff came in with my dessert. The first impression was astounding and crowd-puller. All of my friends were amazed with the dessert. It was served in a white bowl plate. There were 3 pieces of toast with slices of banana on top, served with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream in the pool of Gula Melaka syrup.
I took a bite of the moist and fluffy toast together with the banana. It complements each other perfectly. The mildly sweet of Gula Melaka was comforting and left me with a pleased feelings. My taste bud tingled from that first bite. The dessert was astounding, it made me wanted to visit this place just for this dessert.
If you wanted to come to Melaka, you may visit this café and try out the Gula Melaka on toast.
